Olympic Velodrome

On Saturday I was lucky enough to go and see the World Cup Track Cycling at the Olympic and Paralympic Velodrome. Wow !! It is an impressive venue. In many ways it wasn’t as big as I was expecting but it was sparkly new and a great atmosphere.

It was great to see some of the big names in British cycling perform in front of you. This is the moment that Sir Chris Hoy won his heat of the Keirin, coming from five places behind to snatch victory at the line. This man was amazing!

Unfortunately two of the GB ladies, Victoria Pendleton and Jess Varnish, had to race against each other in the Sprint race . . .

Having witnessed how close these cyclists ride together, especially in some races with more than 20 riders, I was surprised there weren’t more accidents. I witnessed only 3 accidents throughout the whole seven hours that I was there. The worst was when this riders front forks just seemed to break up. Luckily everyone walked away from their incidents seemingly without any serious injury.

Amazing day, anyone who has tickets for the Olympics is very lucky. I wasn’t lucky enough to have a press pass or anything so these photos are what I could get from my seat or wandering around the stadium.

ITV Rugby World Cup Exposure

Shooterz is getting a bit more exposure this week, but you definitely have to be moving in the right specialist circles to have seen it. Some of the photos that I took at the ITV Rugby World Cup set are now being used in the tech news sections from some of the companies that had their products being used.

2011 Boxing Day

OK, I can hear some of you saying it . . . . that was last year ! I know, I was going to post this before New Year and then forgot, but its here now.

I spent a couple of hours on Boxing Day down at the Chequers PH in Loose, South of Maidstone. I have been coming here on and off for many years on Boxing Day to watch the Morris Dancers but it’s been a few years since the last time. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a really good turn out. They were three sides dancing on Boxing Day, the hosts Boughton Morris who invited Loose Women and Cinque Port Morris Men sides along for the fun as well.

The Loose Women are always a joy to watch and very colourful along with it . . . .

Cinque Port Morris Men had a good outing. If you watch the video below then I‘m sure you’ll be able to find the other couple of clips that I’ve uploaded from the day. Right at the end, Boughton Morris got a lot of the innocent bystanders to join in which was quite fun to see them all having a go for themselves.

Ok – its got almost to the end of Jan and I haven’t posted on the blog yet for 2012! I was going to do this every week – bad start. I’ve added a new page to the blog to start making a note of where other people use my photos, either online or in the press. DJ Nev @ Chilston Park Hotel

DJ Nev of Mikasa Events infamy played his last wedding of the year at Chilston Park Hotel on Wed 21st December. Nev had asked for some more photos of him DJ’ing at a wedding to put on his new website (go check it out – it looks pretty cool.) The wedding was for an old friend of Nev’s and was therefore more than happy for him to bring along a photographer for the evening.

Nev does like to get involved in his ‘work’ and clearly enjoys what he does (thankfully for him – he doesn’t do Karaoke – I’m sure he wouldn’t have quite the same demand! )

It was a wedding so it seems silly not to include a couple of photos of the bride and the dancing . . . .

Nev’s lights were also really effective on the low ceiling of the Orangery.

This was also my last job of the year so thanks to everyone that I’ve worked with this year and Merry Christmas to you all.
